About
Future Proof Investing is a daily dispatch on the companies building space systems, quantum computing, and other long-horizon technology — covering listed shares and exempt offerings with the same scrutiny, and reading both from the filings.
Coverage of frontier technology tends to split into two useless halves. One half is written for engineers and never reaches the question of who pays. The other half is written for excitement and treats a roadmap slide as though it were a backlog. Neither tells you whether there is a business underneath.
The work in between is ordinary and mostly undone. A launch provider's economics depend on cadence and reuse, not on the vehicle's specifications. A quantum company's position depends on error rates and who is buying machine time, not on a headline qubit count. These things are visible in filings, contract awards, and procurement records, usually before they are visible in the share price.
Each weekday we take one company, contract, or offering and work through it: what it sells today, who the paying customer is, which technical gate comes next, how long the cash lasts, and what the terms of ownership are. We state plainly when the answer is that there is nothing investable here yet.
We work from primary documents — annual and quarterly reports, Regulation A offering circulars, Regulation CF filings, prospectuses, agency contract awards, and patent and licensing records. Not from the announcement written about them.
Looking at a company before the market crowds around it is the advantage we are after. It is not a promise. Most early frontier companies do not reach commercial scale, exempt offerings are frequently illiquid for years, and later financing rounds routinely dilute the people who arrived first.
So we write about dilution, lockups, share classes, and exit routes with the same attention we give to thrust, fidelity, or coherence time. A technology can be real and the security still be a poor instrument for owning it. Those are separate judgments and we keep them separate.
We are not an investment adviser, a broker-dealer, a placement agent, or a financial planner. We publish general commentary written without any knowledge of your circumstances, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell anything, including any offering we describe.
We do not run a deal pipeline, take fees for introductions, or receive allocations. We also do not publish price targets or forecast when a given technology will arrive. Judging what a company has actually demonstrated is a tractable problem; dating the future is not.
We take advertising and we label it. Where we have been compensated by, or hold a position connected to, a company appearing in an issue, that issue discloses it at the top, as the FTC and Section 17(b) require. When we get something wrong we correct it in the next issue and say what changed.
